My nephew took longer than other kids to speak. Now he knows 100s of words and phrases in Spanish & English, but still catching up However (!) he knows when to address someone (he knows) in English or Spanish. i.e. he never speaks in Spanish to my Irish family. No one explicitly taught him this.
