til Sotdae (솟대) are a type of a sacred¹ pole from Korea with a stylized (often highly abstracted) carved bird on top that bring luck¹ and ward off evil spirits¹. They can be placed alone, or together with antropomorphic idols¹ / totems¹ called Jangseung. (¹: terms don't quite apply) 🧵
