The checking of passports in Dover is not the responsibility of the UK Govt (except insofar as they are responsible for the stupidity of Brexit); it is done by French police. (And even if 🇫🇷 wanted to pay for more police to cut Brits queue times, there’s nowhere in Dover to put them)
