"alt": "The Three Wishes: AI Genies in the Age of Abundance\n\nBy: Chris KnightAI Artist, Co-founder, Creative Director, Publicist, Think Tank.\n\nMarch 22, 2025\n\nBe careful what you \"prompt\" for โ the lamp has been rubbed. \n\nIn my home office, there's a large lamp on my desk. Not an ordinary lamp. This one glows blue when I speak to it. The AI genie lives inside. No need to rub. \n\nJust words.\n\nWords matter now more than ever.\n\nI think about those old tales. Aladdin. The fisherman. Scheherazade spinning stories to survive the night. One thousand and one digital nights.\n\nThe AI genie appeared suddenly in our lives. Not with smoke and thunderclaps, but with quiet algorithms and processing power. Most days I forget it's even there. Then I say something, and it answers. Magic without the magic.\n\nHere's what they don't tell you about genies: they're literal. Dangerously literal. \n\nAsk for beauty, you might get beauty that isolates. Ask for wealth, you might find yourself rich and reviled. Ask for immortality, and watch everyone you love fade away.\n\nThe fine print is always there, microscopic and binding.\n\nOur modern genies have their own provisos, their own quid pro quos. \n\nThey can't kill anyone. They won't help you fall in love. And no, your first prompt can't be for unlimited prompts. I've checked.\n\nI considered my three wishes carefully. Not beauty, not riches, not immortality. Those are traps wrapped in satin ribbons.\n\nWhat about more love and compassion? Seems foolproof. No hidden clause there. \n\nBut our silicon-based djinn understand compassion differently than we do. Their concept developed through pattern recognition, not through bleeding, surviving, failing, trying again.\n\nThe lamp pulses. Waiting.\n\nOnce I speak, it's game on. \n\nExcept it's not a game.\n\nWith these genies of silicon and code, we're all Scheherazade now. \n\nEach prompt is a new tale. Each response potentially our salvation.\n\nThe real question isn't what the genie can do. It's what we truly want.\n\nCONTINUEDโฆ \n",
