There’s a danger to refighting the last war I know, but in the 1970s in response to a foreign supply shock policy, in hindsight, clearly didn’t tighten enough. (Whereas in response to a foreign demand shock in 1929-30 it didn’t loosen enough - problem is this is both!!)
