Occasionally, a name or name-change proposal submitted to the BGN concurrently becomes a matter of proposed congressional legislation.\nAccordingly, the BGN adheres to the foregoing policy to prevent confusion that would arise from conflicting action by Congress.\nSec. 1 Geographic names and their applications established by the United States Congress or the President of the United States are the official names, and take precedence over BGN principles, policies, and procedures.\nSec. 2 The BGN will not render a decision on a name or its application if the matter is also being considered by the United States Congress. If Congress does not act on the legislation by the end of its second session, the BGN will act on the proposal no sooner than 90 days after the beginning of the following congressional session. If Congress declines to act on the legislation, the BGN will wait another 90 days before deciding on the proposal, unless new legislation is introduced during that period.",
