My Birdathon #AlphabetOfBirds continues! *R* is for rictal bristles. Some birds like this brown thrasher have conspicuous bristles (modified feathers) along the upper edge of their beak. The function of rictal bristles is not clear. We still have lots to learn about #birds! (1/3)
