          "alt": "This might as well be an arcade game designed to suck quarters from players first and foremost from how much bullshit it throws at you. Many bosses and situations seem completely unreasonable unless you Know the Tricks. I can't help but be cynical about a game like this, which seems designed less for fun and more for extrinsic things - bragging rights, being able to say \"yeah, I beat that game\" or just to show off a digital hoard of things, or to give whales a pedestal upon which to feel like they have worth. I immediately made liberal use of the save state function to get through this game and while some of the encounters and frustrations must have been iconic back in the day (medusa heads...) and make attack timing and positioning a tightrope of decisions to make, it's nothing special in my eyes. It was probably great back then, because this was unmistakenly a video game, and was less buggy than Mega Man 2 when I played it. And there's some legit strategy to the pickups. but man, sorry...we really do have much better nowadays. \nNow of course I know this is the start of a decades long series that's went through a ton of design changes and responses to a developing market - I'm gonna play more castlevania at some point, absolutely. but I figured, this is on my 3DS, I'm waiting for a sale for the other games, might as well. and yeah! I did it! I saw the dracula fight that got ported to smash bros decades later! I'm 0.5% more gamer cultured!! That's what we're all here for at the end of the day. Gamer culture. ",
