Re-reading Akerlof's (1970) "A Market For Lemons" paper with my lab. I'm curious how far we can take the analogy to electoral systems. What happens when increasing numbers of "lemon" politicians push out good campaigns. Have we seen a market collapse of democracy? Have people written about this?
