Sigh. Not least cos there's form for this - turns USCG has been using a C-130 derivative for MR and SAR for decades. Simple enough to put together an RAF C-130J version. And think of the logistics and training savings! Could have been worse, RAF nearly got VC-10 MPAs instead of Nimrod :)
