Sea holly, Eryngium maritimum, is said to increase seductiveness. In Elizabethan times its candied root was sold as a special sweetmeat, a favourite of the queen herself. Folklore tells of mermaids feasting on sea holly to enhance their alluring charms upon men. #FolkloreSunday
