I think the nature of elves complicates things. Elven ancestry in fiction often brings real physiological differences, longevity, ability to use magic, etc. So either amount of elven ancestry doesn’t impact that, I.e. one drop, or there’s a minimum amount of elven ancestry that gives those traits.
