It’s the idea (which was subtextual in Obama’s religious comments) that if one doesn’t make a steady, and intentional, effort to do that one might not be saved. “Justified by Faith” means one can’t doubt (for a moment) that one is saved. He cast doubt, so he’s not a “real” Christian.
