A big part of it is the historic success rates of 3rd round WRs vs. 4th-5th round RBs and 2nd round TEs. Last year is a good representation, where Malachi Corley, Jermaine Burton, Roman Wilson, Luke McCaffrey barely contributed, and Jalen McMillan became a starter, but was already replaced.
