This reminds me of our Great Lost Project, rebooting Hitchhikers at the BBC just after New Who hit. The angle was that it wasn’t sci fi - like Arthur C Clarke - from which we could learn where we’re headed, but a period comedy - like Evelyn Waugh, from which we could learn how we’d got here.
