          "alt": "I avoid voicing opinions online in general but I really need some people to understand that the premise of copyright was, originally, to guarantee that an artist would financially benefit from their labor for X amount of time before it came to \"belong to the world\" in the from of the public domain.\nThe fact that corpos eventually corrupted the concept and wielded it as an oppressive cudgel on the art world later doesn't make it a \"right wing/capitalism thing.\"\nIt is literally a measure of worker protection. Anyone claiming the left should be anti-copyright just wants to be able to benefit off of (see steal) other people's labor.\nAs always, the problem is the obscenely wealthy assholes buying and selling the government rigging the game against the rest of us (you know, the guys who need to get Luigi'd), NOT artists barely making rent every month wanting to protect their livelihoods.
