Currently feeling curmudgeonly. Let's say you find 6 colonies when filtering 8 mL of water, and need to express this in cells / 100 mL. In my view, showing the math would be something like: 6 colonies / 8 mL = 0.75 cells / mL = 75 cells / 100 mL.
