If anything, the non-credibility of Trump as a candidate was the thing that made it close.</p><p>Harris pivoted pretty far to the right to try to pick up some of the voters on the edge, and still lost. One of the bits of fallout from this election will be the question - do voters feel that Democrats are a credible and coherent *alternative*?</p>",
