James Edwin Ramsbotham was born on 4 Nov 1856 in Ipswich, Queensland. He joined the Posts & Telegraphs Service, stationed at St Lawrence, later moving to Brisbane. In 1901 he started as the Telegraphist at Roma Street Railway Station and probably saw elephants there. James died on 14 April 1913.
