I'm deeply concerned about the decommissioning of Snow and Ice data products by NOAA, especially as it relates to long term data sets showing sea ice in Alaska. These data are used extensively by leading professionals in the sea ice data visualization field such as Rich Thoman and Zack Labe, who's work I follow closely. Without these historical data, tracking sea ice change over longer time scales will be greatly reduced. This loss is critical not only because it affects the work of the professionals I mentioned, but it affects the next level of scientists like myself who use their work for messaging in work meant for the general public, as references in scientific papers, and to inform our own decision making. Most importantly, these data are critically important for residents of the far North, the Inuit who use the sea ice on a daily basis for transportation, harvesting, and to practice their culture. Although important current sea ice  tracking remains in place, the historical data is very important to demonstrating trends, and even trying to look to the future in these unpredictable and difficult times. There is no excuse for these cuts nor is there any justification.\"",
