As well as focusing on Winifred, a major figure in 20th-century British art, the exhibition tells the story of the rural farming community she lived in on Hadrian's Wall in north Cumbria. It was neighbour Margaret Warwick, a farmer's wife, who provided an introduction to the art of rag rugging.
