Since we have indexes whose interpretations are sample-size-independent, isn’t the bigger issue the comparability of designs and sampling schemes? Example: Sample 1 has narrower covariate distributions than Sample 2 => some indexes penalize Sample 1 regardless of predictiveness of Y.
