Now Griffin has lost in a court uncorrupted by extreme Republican bias. But I fully agree with @bryanranderson.bsky.social: The damage has been done. Along with North Carolina's partisan judges, Griffin has laid out a blueprint for election subversion that other losing candidates are bound to copy.

As Anderson, the North Carolina reporter, aptly put it, the damage is done: “There’s now little incentive for candidates to concede defeat in future elections and ample opportunity to wrongly challenge voters who followed all rules at the time of an election.” In substantive terms, Griffin got much further than Trump did in his 2020 effort to overturn the presidential election. He only failed because the federal courts that oversee North Carolina happen to be free of partisan corruption. But what if a Republican candidate loses by a hair in, say, Texas, where both state and federal courts are badly tainted by GOP bias? Griffin has laid out the blueprint for an election heist in such a scenario, with SCOTUS standing as the lone bulwark against an assault on democracy. The conservative majority may be wary of affirmatively intervening to steal a race for a Republican, but it would be much easier to stand by silently as the injustice unfolds.\n\n", "image": { "$type": "blob", "ref": { "$link": "bafkreigjqa5qebv6fv2e5rexafnts5b2ptbnfpfwwnpmtbrgsgjhe6nauu" }, "mimeType": "image/jpeg", "size": 381527 }, "aspectRatio": { "width": 1484, "height": 602 } } ] }, "langs": [ "en" ], "reply": { "root": { "cid": "bafyreiadxbdbpamsbrkz7bnjpngdpbzhescgjqwfaizqvgt5l2766rci4e", "uri": "at://did:plc:6h7b2i6ttw3l4t7pvbvxdith/app.bsky.feed.post/3lojiwaurmc2m" }, "parent": { "cid": "bafyreifz4cah3wuex3edln37evbv2ccaiqalq43njqkzoef6nywptmxy3q", "uri": "at://did:plc:6h7b2i6ttw3l4t7pvbvxdith/app.bsky.feed.post/3lojjdayf7s2m" } }, "facets": [ { "$type": "app.bsky.richtext.facet", "index": { "byteEnd": 123, "byteStart": 96 }, "features": [ { "did": "did:plc:q3myat66gnpkfqkwz52bnsxz", "$type": "app.bsky.richtext.facet#mention" } ] } ], "createdAt": "2025-05-06T18:33:43.291Z" } }
