          "alt": "My reply to a video from Alexander Avila, in which he defends generative A.I.\n\nIt's a difference in our philosophical approaches to what makes art and artistic expression meaningful to human beings, and how A.I. actively undermines it in every way. While I can appreciate your stance that art isn't just limited to traditional avenues (painting, writing, music) and can be as abstract and unconventional as Pollock and Duchamp's \"Fountain\", I genuinely believe that -- while exceptions can be found -- the very process of using A.I. to create 'art' is an insult to what makes art special. What makes it so worthwhile to pursue and create.\n\nWhen I see a piece of A.I. art, I don't feel anything from it when I learn it wasn't from the hands of an actual artist. I don't get to see their work, their labor, their craft, their ideas, their experiences. I see a concept that was put through a program that produced something that will always be inherently disconnected from the person who conceived it. It's not artistic expression, to me. It's an EMULATION of artistic expression; one created by something that inherently cannot understand the meaning behind what it's produced.\n\n\"Soulless\" is the word that comes to mind. I don't want to see this garbage. I don't want to entertain it, encourage it, engage with it. It does not appeal to me in any meaningful way. Even if the idea that went into it is clever or unique, I'd rather a flawed, messy creation by the hands of an artist. That is true artistic expression to me. And I am disappointed to see people who, otherwise, might've actually pursued the creation of art with their own hands instead opt into creating cheap, easy, impersonal slop.\n\nAlso, that you would flippantly compare the way humans are inspired by and iterate on art to A.I. is blatantly galling and shallow. And completely disregarding the personal insult to artists that is having their art used without consent to help build these models, all because it's a capitalist mindset.",
