The pioneering thinker who attempted to conceptualize ideology outside Marxism was Karl Mannheim.In his work Ideology and Utopie, Mannheim distinguished between ‘partial’ and "‘holistic’ ideologies by addressing the concept of ideology in a more general perspective than the classical Marxist theory.
