They are! It’s an erosion pattern formation, the softer rock wears faster so you get tall pillars with big flattish bulges, and sometimes top “hats”, where the hardest stone is. Lots in Alberta around Drumheller & dinosaur deposits. Very cool for photos. Also snake-friendly habitat (warm rocks).
