For Leppard, I’d say AC/DC meets Queen was always the foundation, with Elliott’s Hoople not far behind. It’s right there on “Ride Into The Sun,” which was an Elliott/Savage co-write. They added whatever was in their collections at the time for textures. They get little credit for this, of course.
